Defending the Dignity of Life
As a Catholic parish, we are called to uphold and defend the dignity of every human life, from conception until natural death. This conviction flows from our belief that each person is created in the image and likeness of God, and is therefore of infinite worth.
The Church’s teaching on the sanctity of life is rooted in the Gospel itself. Christ came that all might have life, and have it to the full. In our own time, this calls us to be witnesses to hope, compassion, and truth in a culture where the value of human life is often diminished or overlooked.
Our parish seeks to respond to this call through prayer, education, and practical support. We encourage all parishioners to deepen their understanding of life issues, to support those in difficult circumstances—especially mothers, families, the sick, and the elderly—and to be a gentle but clear voice for the protection of life in society.
We also recognise the importance of responsible citizenship. As Catholics, we are encouraged to engage respectfully and thoughtfully in public life, including by making our views known to those elected to serve us at Scottish Parliament and UK Parliament, where many of these important matters are debated and decided.
Above all, we recognise that this mission must be rooted in charity. To defend life is not simply to speak about principles, but to accompany people with love, patience, and mercy, reflecting the compassion of Christ in all that we do.
This page will be updated regularly with information about upcoming events, current issues, and ways in which you can make your voice heard. If you would like further information or guidance on how to engage with these matters, please contact the parish.
